The title of this post is the title of a new book containing words and phrases which have recently entered public usage. Read the BBC article here.
I will have to get myself a copy of this book; I love how the English language is constantly changing. One of my favourite dictionaries is The Cassell Dictionary of Slang which is fantastic for browsing through and learning lots of strange new words and phrases such as goomer (a fool, a failure), funch (sexual liaisons at lunctime), bag o' wank (a general term of abuse), kabump! (the noisy landing of one object or person on another), nibshit (nil, nothing, a very small amount), bah-fungoo! (an exclamation of contempt or dismissal) and spoffle (to make a fuss, bustle about), once I start reading, it is very difficult to stop. It is also quite disturbing and amusing to realise how many, many euphemisms there are for masturbation. It appears that when we are not doing it, we are trying to think of different ways to describe it.
"I Smirt, You Stooze, They Krump" contains one of my favourite new words - celebutard - "a blend of celebrity, debutante and retard - would be used to describe a celebrity noted for displays of stupidity." There are far too many celebrities who fit into this category, and it is useful to know what to call them all. It also includes another favourite of mine - moobs (man boobs). I had never heard of 'smirt' or 'smirting' even though I've been known to partake in it on occasion (flirting while smoking outside office buildings or pubs). Apparently, "to 'krump' is to dance, sometimes wearing face paint, in a fast and aggressive style, mimicking a fight but remaining non-violent." This activity has totally passed me by but if ever end up doing it, I will now know what to call it. And finally, " 'Stooze' is a verb describing the practice of taking advantage of introductory interest free periods offered by credit card companies, to borrow money that is then invested elsewhere for profit."
Now, are we all wit' it?

celebutard is a fantastic word. thanks for your lovely words today on my blog
I can't comment on anyone's blog if they are not blog bloddy beta, I knew there were consequences, so will do it anonymously.
It's Rach from Crisis intervention summit, UK
grand spanking words pom!
reminds me of huddersfield and the excitement such slang dictionaries in orders could bring...
where do you think the stresses go in celebutard?!
xxx
I think 'bag o' wank' is my favorite new insult. Love it! But I learned what krumping was from So You Think You Can Dance.. similar to hip hop and popping.. a style from there.. interesting and looks f'n hard to me. Words kinda rock. :)
Rach - 'Celebutard' is so great and it rolls off the tongue quite nicely too. The anonymous commenting thing is one of the reasons why I didn't want to switch to beta just yet, but your blog does look very nice! Hope you are feeling a bit better.
Jen - Ooh, I miss those days! I could afford so many interesting books; strange considering the pittance we were paid. I'm less adventurous with my book buying now I pay full price, or I order from the library and then hate having to give them back.
"say-leb-you-TARD"??? I like stressing the TARD ;)
Miss D - I love 'bag o' wank' too and I'm waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it ;) The word 'krumping' makes me giggle, it should be something filthy methinks, rather than a style of dance.

"Moobs" - Gold!
Although "stooze" sounds rather odd, what it means is a pretty interesting concept innocent little me have never thought of. Very interesting indeed....
(By the way...i had just switched to blog beta myself, but i was able to comment somehow?!:S Unless i have completely miss what it is you are talking about, dear Rach from Crisis intervention summit, UK - which is highly possible - i think there's something fishy going on...)
I love new words. I got another from Jon Stewart the other night. Pardon the language. "Catastrofuck" - when a Hellhole crashes into a Cataclysm...in reference, ahem, to American foreign policy. My boy & I started using it describe our messy house...

V - The Boy used to 'stooze' when we lived in the UK as there are about a million different credit cards all offering interest free periods. Unfortunately, that's not the case in Australia. No stoozing! I've no idea why you can comment normally, I suspect you are very special ;)
Pixie - Thanks so much for that link, I watched the video and fell in love with Jon Stewart all over again. Catastrofuck - love, love, love it! The perfect word to describe our garden right now.
